Planet in Focus showcases outstanding and compelling films and videos in all forms (documentary, drama, animation, experimental, new media), focusing on environmental themes and subjects by Canadian and international filmmakers. Throughout the year and at our annual festival, we use environmental artistic expression framed through the cinematic lens, to explore environmental issues and stories as a catalyst for public awareness, discussion and appropriate action on the ecological and social health of the planet. At the heart of our mandate is the incorporation of green processes in the art of filmmaking.

I.A.T.S.E. Local 873

I.A.T.S.E. Local 873 is a Toronto-based labour union which has represented the most skilled and experienced motion picture technicians in Toronto for 50 years. In addition to being a founding partner of The Toronto Green Screen Initiative, Local 873 is on the cutting edge with regards to industry safety and training initiatives. It has long been one of the most politically active and prolific boosters of the city’s film and television industry.

Toronto Film & Television Office

Established in 1979 by City Council, the Toronto Film & Television Office promotes Toronto as a location filming destination of choice, highlighting its exceptional technicians, crews, talent, suppliers and locations. The staff of the office liaise on behalf of the film, television, and commercial production industry with municipal, provincial, and federal government offices/agencies and residents and businesses to ensure a positive filming experience. The office provides resource material relating to the film industry for the media and general public. All use of City streets, parks and property is coordinated through the office and managed and coordinated by location filming permits.

Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA)

Our goal at the CMPA is to promote and stimulate the Canadian production industry. As a non-profit trade association we represent almost 400 film, television and interactive media companies across the country. We negotiate and manage labour agreements, and actively lobby the federal and provincial governments on various policy areas including taxation, trade, copyright, broadcasting and film. Our National Mentorship Program trains young people to meet the demands of this evolving industry. The association also holds an annual networking conference, Prime Time in Ottawa, where we release Profile, our state of the industry report featuring the industry's most comprehensive statistics. We also publish and sell GUIDE, Canada's production industry directory. With offices in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver, the CMPA is always there for the independent Canadian producer.
