  1. As a post production house we generate a startling number of non reusable cd/dvd discs for various tv shows and films.
I cringe to throw them in the garbage - surely there must be somewhere I can send these to be recycled locally - the closest place I have found to do this is in Winnipeg.
too far for my boss to agree to ship them there.
    any ideas folks?

  2. So far, in our research for the Resource Guide (which will be released in October), we haven't found any local business that will recycle these items. It's really unfortunate. Of course, if someone knows of a company out there that does, we'd love to know about it.

Hopefully by identifying these gaps it will show a demand that can be filled by some intrepid entrepreneur. Until then we're going to have to weigh the benefits of recycling against the impact (in this case) of sending all this stuff to Winnipeg.

I have found this company that also recycle electronics and operates in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Fredericton.

    Computation Ltd

They said that the polycarbonate from the CD's and DVD's can be reused into hard plastic materials (such as bike helmets for instance) which gives a second life to the products.
