We host production crews in our Mom and Pops run Studio. Our client lounge and kitchen are set up to look like a comfy coffee house complete with dishes, appliances, fabric towels (which we also have a laundry room to service) and separate recycle containers to accomodate the division of landfill items and recyclables. We pay an independent garbage collector so we need to separate.

Large productions do bring in vast amounts of disposable products, and (err) plastic water bottles, but all and all, most of our regulars make themselves at home and fill the dishwasher after the craft services have been stored away.

It starts with education, most will be receptive to a sign that says how to separate garbage, which everyone should be doing already in their homes. If we continue to lead by example by providing or suggesting the alternatives and reinforcing simple and accessable starting points, then the rest of the production industry eventually catches on.

Besides the operation of our studio http://www.keepitinthefamilyproductions.com I am a member of Green 13 and am committed to the promotion of the greening of Toronto. http://www.green13toronto.blogspot.com
